Backups and restores
The Backups page lists server backups newest first and provides guarded create, restore, and delete actions. Availability depends on your service policy and the server’s Agent backup configuration.
Plan backup copies are stored on the same physical server as the live game service. A full-server or storage failure can make both unavailable. Keep a current, verified copy outside VYKIX of any world, configuration, database, or mod data that you cannot recreate.

This example has no configured backup files, so creation is unavailable. Use the summary line to confirm readiness before relying on backups.
Check backup configuration
Section titled “Check backup configuration”The summary above the backup list reports:
| Value | Meaning |
|---|---|
| State | Whether automatic Agent backups are enabled. Manual creation may still be separately policy-controlled. |
| Files | Number of configured paths included in a backup. At least one path is required to create a useful backup. |
| Startup | Whether the Agent is configured to create a backup during startup. |
| Interval | The saved automatic-backup interval value. Preserve the assigned value unless your service documentation defines a different schedule. |
| Keep | The saved retention value used by the Agent. Preserve it unless you know the expected unit and service policy. |
If Files is 0, the panel disables Create backup and tells you to configure backups.filelist in Advanced settings.
Create a backup
Section titled “Create a backup”- Confirm the correct server at the top of the page.
- Verify the backup summary has one or more files.
- Select Create backup once.
- Wait for the request to complete and the list to refresh.
- Confirm a new backup appears with a creation time and expected size.
A host can accept the action without returning a new list entry. If that happens, review backups.filelist, refresh, and check the server logs before retrying.
Understand the backup list
Section titled “Understand the backup list”| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Backup | The identifier/name assigned by the server host. |
| Created | When the backup was first created. |
| Updated | When its metadata or contents were last updated. |
| Size | Reported archive size. A dash means the host did not return a size. |
| Status | Host-reported backup state when one is available. |
| Actions | Restore or delete controls allowed by your service. |
Use Refresh to reload both the list and the configuration summary.
Restore a backup
Section titled “Restore a backup”Restoring can overwrite the server’s current state.
- Announce downtime and stop the server from Console.
- If possible, create one final backup of the current state.
- Find the intended backup by name, date, and size.
- Select Restore.
- Read the confirmation and select Restore backup.
- Wait for the action and list refresh to complete.
- Start the server and inspect Console plus RPT/error logs.
If the restored state is not what you expected, stop the server before attempting another restore. Repeatedly restoring while DayZ is running increases the chance of conflicting writes.
Delete backups
Section titled “Delete backups”- Delete removes one selected backup.
- Wipe all removes every backup listed for the server.
Both actions require confirmation and cannot be undone from the panel. Wipe all is not a game-world wipe; it deletes the backup collection itself.
Disabled controls
Section titled “Disabled controls”| Situation | Meaning |
|---|---|
Create backup disabled and Files is 0 |
No backup paths are configured. |
| Create/restore/delete disabled with an availability message | That operation is not enabled for your customer service. |
| All actions disabled temporarily | The page is loading or another backup action is running. |
| Wipe all disabled | Deletion is unavailable or no backups are listed. |
Contact support instead of changing unrelated settings when an operation is not available for your service.
