MTU for VYKIX Services: Windows and Linux Setup

Set the Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) to 1476 for VYKIX services. MTU limits the size of a packet sent in one piece by your network interface. When a packet exceeds the path’s limit, it may be fragmented or dropped, causing stalled transfers or unstable connections that resemble server faults.

Changing MTU in Windows

Press “Win + X” and choose “Windows Terminal (Admin)” or “Command Prompt (Admin).” Run the commands with Administrator privileges.
Find your network adapter with this command:
```
netsh interface ipv4 show subinterfaces
```
Write down the adapter name, such as “Ethernet” or “Wi-Fi”.
Use the adapter name from step 2 in place of “YourNetworkAdapter” to set the MTU:
```
netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "YourNetworkAdapter" mtu=1476 store=persistent
```
With “store=persistent”, the setting remains in place after a reboot.
Reboot the server.
Check the MTU value after the restart:
```
netsh interface ipv4 show subinterfaces
```

Changing MTU in Linux

Start a terminal session. Use sudo before the commands unless you are root.
Find the name of your network interface:
```
ip a
```
Record the interface name, such as “eth0” or “ens33”.
Replace “YourNetworkInterface” with the name from step 2 and set the MTU to 1476:
```
sudo ip link set dev YourNetworkInterface mtu 1476
```
Check the interface to confirm the change:
```
ip a | grep YourNetworkInterface
```

If the MTU change leaves connections unstable, send support a WinMTR report so we can investigate loss along the route.
