How to install and configure TraderPlus on a DayZ server
To add TraderPlus to a DayZ PC server, install TraderPlus and CF on the server and clients, generate the profile configuration, then connect a trader ID to its item categories. Test a single non-vehicle transaction before introducing bank, garage or stock rules.
This guide covers TraderPlus, Workshop item 2458896948, published by Dmitri. It does not use the text configuration from Dr_J0nes Trader or the JSON schema from Expansion Market.
Choose the version and protect saved vehicles
Section titled “Choose the version and protect saved vehicles”The author’s public repository describes TraderPlus V1 as a legacy community-maintained branch, with deprecation planned for V2. Decide which product your server uses before following its settings. TraderX is a separate Workshop package; replacing the package name is not a documented migration of prices, accounts or vehicles. TraderPlus V1 repository
Take a stopped backup of the world, active mission, profiles, packages, keys and startup settings. Keep database files with the matching profile and world snapshot. Start the installation rehearsal on a separate instance with fresh persistence and no saved community vehicles.
The Workshop author warns that the first launch with CarLock can corrupt existing vehicles and directs owners to the installation instructions. Review those instructions for your installed release before adding the package to an existing vehicle world. If the author instructions cannot be accessed, keep that live migration on hold; a successful empty-world startup does not clear the warning. Workshop installation warning
CF is required. If this world does not already use it, the CF author requires a wipe when introducing the framework. Plan that separately from converting an existing trader configuration.
Install the packages and generate files
Section titled “Install the packages and generate files”In VXPanel, stop the service, open Mods, search 2458896948 and confirm the original author and Steam link. Select Install and review Install all required mods. Both TraderPlus and CF need the server-and-client scope. See VXPanel mod controls for dependency and update behavior.
For a manual host, copy the subscribed CF and TraderPlus packages to their own server folders. Copy their supplied .bikey files into the server’s keys directory and retain signature verification. For folders named as below:
"-mod=@CF;@TraderPlus"Preserve other required mods in the full launch list. Players must load matching client versions. Start the fresh test instance once, inspect its RPT and script logs, then stop it before changing generated files.
Configuration belongs under the active directory selected by -profiles:
TraderPlus/TraderPlusConfig/| File | Job |
|---|---|
TraderPlusGeneralConfig.json |
Trader entities, positions, accepted condition rules and currency definitions |
TraderPlusIDsConfig.json |
Trader IDs and the categories they can access |
TraderPlusPriceConfig.json |
Product entries, prices and stock policy |
TraderPlusBankingConfig.json |
Account settings and transaction fees |
TraderPlusSafeZoneConfig.json |
Trader safe-zone locations and related behavior |
TraderPlusVehiclesConfig.json / TraderPlusGarageConfig.json |
Vehicle and garage configuration |
Back up the generated directory. Preserve its Version and fields not being edited. The public V1 repository contains example profiles and source definitions; your installed release’s generated files should be the starting point. Author’s profile examples
Place one trader on the active map
Section titled “Place one trader on the active map”In TraderPlusGeneralConfig.json, review an existing entry in Traders. It has an Id, entity class in Name, display information, Position, Orientation and clothing entries. Use a valid entity class and a position measured on your map.
Trader Position is an [x, y, z] world vector; y is height. Copying a sample Chernarus trader to DeerIsle can put it underground or in the sea. Start with one trader at an accessible test location and record its numeric Id.
In TraderPlusIDsConfig.json, find the matching Id and its Categories list. That list must refer to category names that exist in the price file. Retain spelling and capitalization across the files. Check its licence and currency restrictions before diagnosing a missing menu item. General example and ID example
Add a simple price category
Section titled “Add a simple price category”In the existing TraderCategories array in TraderPlusPriceConfig.json, add a category object such as this test policy:
{ "CategoryName": "VYKIX Test Drinks", "Products": [ "SodaCan_Pipsi,1,-1,-1,100,50" ]}Add VYKIX Test Drinks to the selected trader’s Categories array in the IDs file. Insert commas between adjacent JSON objects; this object is not a complete price file. Confirm the item class exists in your loaded packages before starting the service.
The reviewed V1 parser reads the product string in this order:
ClassName,Coefficient,MaxStock,TradeQuantity,BuyPrice,SellPriceThe test entry uses coefficient 1, unlimited stock (-1), full item quantity (-1), a player buy price of 100 and sell price of 50. Those amounts are a test policy, not a price recommendation. The parser also accepts fractional sell-price ratios; use explicit whole prices for this first transaction. Price parser
Keep auto-calculation and existing stock behavior under review. A new finite MaxStock policy can interact with saved stock databases; changing a number in the price file does not prove an existing trader’s stock was reset. Do not delete the database to fix a menu problem. Back it up and rehearse a stock change on the copy first.
Check currency and banking
Section titled “Check currency and banking”Use the currency classes already defined in the generated Currencies list in the general file. Each currency entry associates item classes with a value. Give your test player enough of an accepted currency, buy the drink and sell it back. Confirm the displayed and actual balance changes.
For banking, review DefaultStartCurrency, DefaultMaxCurrency, TransactionFees, CurrenciesAccepted and the generated card requirement field. The example uses the exact spelling IsCreditCarNeededForTransaction; do not correct a configuration key to ordinary prose. Banking example
Deposit and withdraw a small amount, reconnect, then repeat after a stop/start. Check transfer fees with a second account if transfers are part of your community rules. Preserve the TraderPlusBankDatabase and other TraderPlus database directories alongside the world backup. A configuration backup without account data cannot restore balances.
Keep safe zones and vehicle tests separate
Section titled “Keep safe zones and vehicle tests separate”Safe zones have their own SafeAreaLocation entries. The reviewed example stores horizontal coordinates as X and Y; that Y is not the height component used in a trader’s three-dimensional Position. Match the zone to the location you placed and test its boundary. Safe-zone example
A trader safe zone does not establish a whole-server PvE ruleset. Check hostile actions, infected, other protection mods and exit behavior with ordinary players.
Before allowing vehicle purchases, configure vehicle classes, attachments, delivery space, garage access and ownership rules for the actual packages you use. Test buying, deploying, locking, storing, retrieving and restarting with a disposable vehicle. Keep garage data and attachments in the recovery check. Do not enable community vehicle conversion until the first-launch CarLock procedure and a copied-save recovery test are complete.
Troubleshoot and recover
Section titled “Troubleshoot and recover”| Symptom | Check |
|---|---|
| Trader is missing | Loaded package, active profiles path, entity class and map coordinates |
| Category is missing | Trader Id, category name and licence/currency restrictions |
| Product is missing | Loaded item class, six product fields, price policy and saved stock |
| Balance differs from expectation | Currency values, condition coefficients, fees and account data |
| Garage or vehicle state is wrong | Package combination, delivery location, database and CarLock migration |
Read logs under <profiles>/TraderPlus/TraderPlusLogs/ with the server RPT. Keep the full relevant log rather than one isolated error line.
For a configuration mistake, stop and restore the saved profile files. For a package or database rollback, restore the matching packages, world, profiles and databases together. Review mod removal before starting without TraderPlus; its saved items and vehicles can depend on the package.
