Install OP_BaseItems on a DayZ server
Install OP_BaseItems on the server and joining clients, then use the package’s Info folder to add the items you want. That folder contains recipes, economy entries and trader configuration. Read it before importing an old class list: the mod has replaced items and changed its signing key since the original description was written.
Use OP’s original OP_BaseItems, item 1617874376. Its latest listed update, 1 February 2023, prepares for DayZ 1.20. Check the package against your intended game version on a separate server before adding it to a community’s saved world.
Install the package and its current key
Section titled “Install the package and its current key”Stop the service and take a consistent backup of your mission, profiles, persistence, packages, keys and launch settings. Keep these together so you can restore the previous configuration and its saved furniture if an update fails.
Find the exact Workshop item in VXPanel Mods and require it for joining players. For a manual installation, copy it to its own server folder and add that folder to the normal mod list. Follow the mod installation guide for loading and signature checks.
Copy the public signing key supplied with that package into the server’s keys/ folder. The description still names OPMODS.Bikey, while the June 2019 change notes announce OPBaseitemsJune26V3.bikey. Use the file included in your chosen release and keep signature verification enabled.
If an update produces a multiple-declaration error, check for both an old and a new copy of the mod in the loaded folders. With the service stopped, move the old package out of the load path and install a clean copy. Keep the saved world and your configuration backup; removing them won’t repair duplicate scripts.
Add the economy entries you need
Section titled “Add the economy entries you need”Open the installed package’s Info folder and compare its types.xml entries with your mission. Register a separate complete types file through the economy extension procedure or merge individual entries into the existing file. Preserve other mods’ entries, check duplicate classnames and validate the complete XML before uploading it.
Read each selected item’s lifetime, flags and loot targets. Furniture still needs appropriate economy definitions when players craft it or buy it from a trader; giving every object a positive natural-loot target is a separate choice. The February 2023 notes specifically require the relevant types entries for the territory-flag indicator.
The description and later changes differ in three places that matter when importing older settings:
| Older example | What to check |
|---|---|
| Shed recipes or trader entries | The January 2023 update removed the shed. Check saved sheds before upgrading and remove unavailable classes from trader inventories. |
| Waterbarrel kit | The same update introduces the rainbarrel replacement. Follow the installed recipes and classnames instead of renaming saved objects by guesswork. |
| Four camping tents | The February 2020 notes removed tents except the improvised tent. Confirm the current class list before adding tent stock. |
Import trader entries only for the trader system you actually run. A sale entry doesn’t replace the item’s economy definition. Keep the author’s original package; reuploads and repacking are prohibited.
Check storage and base utilities
Section titled “Check storage and base utilities”Use expendable items for the first checks. Place a locker or cabinet, store equipment, reconnect and restart, then compare its contents and attachment slots. Empty it before testing pickup. Repeat the restart check after an update against a copy of your existing furniture.
CodeLock storage needs a separate compatibility mod. The January 2023 notes announce that integration, but this guide hasn’t established its exact current package or supported load order. Confirm both with the original author before advertising lock protection. Once installed, test access with the owner and an unrelated player, including after a restart and a code change.
For a raincatcher, follow the Info recipe, attach the rainbarrel and check collection under suitable weather before and after a restart. The February 2023 update specifically fixes collection after restarts. For a garden box or pot, place it, use Fill, then aim at the soil for planting and care actions. The January notes warn that an emptying action may appear while a plant is growing even though it can’t empty the container.
Test the BBQ with its required charcoal and an ignition source, checking the cooking slots you intend players to use. For fixed lighting, the author directs admins to place spotlights through init.c; the January 2023 notes name OP_Lightbox_Extended and OP_Lightbox_Automatic. Choose the placement and coordinates for your mission, preserve its existing initialization code, and check the automatic variant across the day/night cycle. This guide doesn’t supply a placement script or establish its restart behavior.
Source and verification scope
Section titled “Source and verification scope”This guide used AI-assisted research and drafting. On 7 October 2026, we read the original description and the latest ten of 29 change entries, including the key replacement and 2023 item changes. We haven’t inspected the current package’s Info files, recipes, compatibility addon or binary, and haven’t tested admission, locks, item use or saved-state recovery. The remaining change entries and public comments were not reviewed.
