Buy or rent a DayZ PC server

By

Updated

To buy a hosted DayZ PC server, choose a service, review its billing and file access, place the order, then configure and test the supplied instance. In a hosting order, “buy a server” means renting the service for a billing term. Check the agreement if you intend to buy and own physical hardware.

This procedure covers a new rented PC service through the first successful player connection. For a machine you already control, use the Windows or Linux installation guide. For prices and term comparisons, use the DayZ server cost guide.

Prepare the requirements before choosing a plan

Section titled “Prepare the requirements before choosing a plan”

Write down the map, required mods, expected peak players and where those players connect from. Separate the capacity you hope to reach from the workload you can test. A player-slot allowance controls admission; it does not prove that your mission runs well at that population.

Choose the administration you intend to handle:

Service Work to confirm before ordering
Managed DayZ hosting Confirm the hosting functions included in the order and the game administration you retain. Check file access, mod installation, backups and update controls.
Game VPS Confirm OS access and allocated resources. You maintain the OS, SteamCMD, DayZ, firewall and recovery process.
Dedicated machine Confirm the hardware, OS, protection and remote-access terms. You maintain the game and any system work outside the provider’s scope.

For your first managed server, keep the initial test vanilla. An admin mod, trader or custom map can be added after the base service accepts a player connection.

Check that the service supports your PC project

Section titled “Check that the service supports your PC project”

Open the provider’s DayZ product page and confirm PC, rather than choosing a console service with a similar name. Before paying, confirm these requirements against the plan or ask the provider:

  • Your intended map and Workshop mods are supported, including their dependencies.
  • You can edit the active configuration and mission files, rather than only a short list of presets.
  • You can export the mission, persistence, profiles and mod-owned data needed for a move or recovery.
  • The service explains its resource limits, included protection and upgrade process.
  • The location suits the players you intend to test with. A region name alone does not establish their gameplay latency.
  • The provider explains which update and restart tasks it handles, and which you must schedule.

Keep the answers with your order. If you need a feature the plan does not document, resolve that question before paying.

Select the location, billing term and required options. Check both the amount due now and the recurring charge, including applicable taxes and fees. A price shown as a monthly equivalent can require payment for the whole selected term.

Record the cancellation deadline and method, renewal behavior, refund conditions and what happens to files when the service ends. Use the current order and agreement for these details; a price or cancellation statement in an older video is insufficient.

For VYKIX, start at the DayZ hosting configurator and review the PC order page. The configurator lists DayZ Architect+, monthly, quarterly and semi-annual billing, and Amsterdam or Chicago locations. Confirm the selected configuration and final total in your own order before payment.

Under VYKIX’s renewal and cancellation terms, paid recurring services renew for the same billing cycle until cancelled. To prevent the next renewal, submit your cancellation through the Client Portal or a written support request before the renewal date and time on your invoice and portal. Standard cancellation ends the service at the end of the paid period. Read the withdrawal, refund and minimum-term provisions for your order; they can affect the result.

Place the order when the product and terms match your requirements. Save the confirmation and wait for the service-ready message, management access and assigned endpoints. A payment confirmation alone does not show that the game server has finished provisioning.

Use the management panel supplied with your instance. Panel names and file paths can differ between providers; retain the assigned addresses and ports.

VYKIX’s panel guide explains access to VXPanel and the separate CFTools Architect interface included with DayZ Architect+. The steps linked below show VXPanel. If you use CFTools Architect, follow its process-settings reference: its managed ports and mod launch parameters can override manual file edits. Use the service’s supported controls and confirm the saved result after a restart.

  1. Open the service and confirm that it is the instance and location you ordered.
  2. Record the game endpoint for joining and the query endpoint for browser discovery. On a VXPanel service, use Network.
  3. Stop the game process through its supported control before editing its configuration.
  4. Keep the supplied vanilla mission for the first test. Set a recognizable server name and a temporary join password while preparing the service. Retain signature verification (verifySignatures = 2) and the supplied build checks.
  5. Save through the provider’s supported configuration control. On VXPanel, follow Config; on another panel, use that provider’s PC instructions.
  6. Start the server and inspect its new startup output or RPT for mission, configuration and missing-file errors.

Preserve the working configuration before each later change. Avoid replacing the provider’s entire file with an example that omits its assigned networking or launch settings.

Verify the rented server before adding mods

Section titled “Verify the rented server before adding mods”

Open the DayZ PC launcher and use the assigned game address and port to connect. Enter the temporary join password and confirm that you reach the intended world. Do not substitute the query port for the game port.

Check browser discovery as a separate result. Search for the name in the community server browser. If direct joining succeeds but the listing is absent, follow the visibility troubleshooting guide. If neither works, check startup and the assigned endpoint before adding content.

Invite a tester on another network to repeat the join. Then add mods in controlled batches, checking the client requirements and a successful connection after each batch. Test your intended population and mission before announcing a capacity your community will rely on.

Before launch, create a backup and establish how to export it. Follow the backup and restore guide to inventory the files and rehearse a restore. A downloaded configuration alone cannot recover player progress or mod-owned data.

If moving from another host, retain that service until the destination has passed its restore and player checks. Record the billing and cancellation dates so testing time does not turn into an unintended extra renewal.

Completion check: the order matches your PC requirements, you have management and file access, an external tester joins the vanilla world, browser discovery is checked, and you can export the saved state.
