Install Additional Medic Supplies on a DayZ server

Updated

Install AdditionalMedicSupplies on the server and joining clients, then add the medical items you want through the mission’s economy files. Check the special chest and generated-item classes before importing a class list. Some AMS items are created by game actions and shouldn’t be spawned manually.

Use affenb3rt’s original AdditionalMedicSupplies, item 2579252958. Its last listed update is 23 June 2023. The March 2022 change notes introduce a server-IP blacklist. We haven’t inspected that control in the current package; confirm ordinary-player access on your server before relying on the mod for public play.

Stop the service and take a consistent backup of the mission, profiles, persistence, packages, keys and startup configuration. Make changes on a separate instance with expendable player inventories first.

In VXPanel, find the exact item under Mods and require it on clients. On a manual host, copy the package to its own server folder and add that folder to the normal mod list. Copy its supplied public signing key to keys/. Follow the installation checks before editing loot.

The author describes a normal mod installation without a separate server-only companion. Keep the dependencies required by your other packages. The October 2022 release changed the signing key, and an earlier release was reverted after signing problems. Use the key accompanying your chosen package and retain signature verification.

Open the economy templates inside the installed package. Check each complete file’s root and register the corresponding type, spawnable-types or other supported file in your active mission using the modded-loot procedure. Preserve the mission’s existing definitions, custom values and terrain filters. Parse the finished XML before transferring it.

Treat the author’s special classes separately:

  • AMS_MedChest_Red and AMS_MedChest_Green are dispatch items. Follow the supplied CE configuration; the author says not to spawn them manually.
  • AMS_Splint_Applied and AMS_TestKitReport are generated items. Keep them out of manual spawn lists and generate them through their intended actions when testing.

Don’t build an admin-spawn list by copying every name beginning with AMS_. First test an ordinary supply item from the installed class list, then check a natural spawn through the mission economy.

Use the updated NBC pouch definitions. The June 2023 release replaced its hood attachment slot with inventory space and changed the CE files. Keeping an older attachment preset can leave your economy out of step with that release.

AMS can produce an additional report when a player uses a blood test kit. To disable that report, add or update this top-level setting in the active server configuration, normally serverDZ.cfg:

amsDisableReport = 1;

Check the startup configuration if your server uses a different filename. Keep one assignment, retain the semicolon and leave surrounding settings intact. Restart the test instance and perform a new blood test. Check report generation separately from the kit’s usual blood-type result; this setting doesn’t establish what happens to reports already saved in inventories.

For other behavior changes, use the compile-time constants the author exposes through a dependent script mod. Match your addon to the installed script interfaces. The server setting above controls report generation; it doesn’t configure treatment values.

Use ordinary players to check the actions you intend to offer. Test an item on its user and on another player where supported. Observe the resulting condition and remaining item quantity, then repeat after reconnecting. Include containers and already saved items in a restart check.

Some visible cues need care. The October 2022 notes say tourniquet and absorbent actions suppress the bleeding effect and HUD indication. Check the underlying wound and later treatment instead of treating a hidden indicator as proof that the wound is gone. The November change also stops returning a vanilla splint after an AMS-treated fracture heals.

For reports, check newly generated values before and after a restart. June 2023 fixed a display issue that had required relogging; September 2021 addressed saved report values. Those dated fixes identify useful checks but don’t prove the current package works with your other medical mods.

If a change fails, stop the test service and restore the saved configuration. Restore matching packages and saved state together when reverting a mod version. Keep the original distribution: the author prohibits repacking the main AdditionalMedicSupplies.pbo; separate permission for the _CC.pbo content doesn’t extend to the whole mod.

This guide used AI-assisted research and drafting on 7 October 2026. We read the original description and all 26 change entries. The current packaged economy files, scripts, access controls and binaries have not been inspected. No gameplay, medical-action, multiplayer, report-persistence or recovery test has run here. Complete those checks against the intended game and mod versions before enabling AMS for players.
