Rent a DayZ server on Xbox or PS4

To host your own DayZ server on Xbox or PS4, rent the matching console service, configure it in the provider’s panel and join it through the Community server browser. Installing the Steam dedicated server on a PC does not create an Xbox or PlayStation service.

VYKIX’s managed DayZ hosting is for the Steam PC version. This guide explains console rental through Nitrado; the VYKIX PC prices and VXPanel controls do not apply. For a Steam server, use PC installation or PC rental.

Confirm the game version and device before ordering. Nitrado’s platform selector separates Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC services. Its current Xbox selector directs Xbox/Game Pass orders to the Nitrado Xbox/Windows app.

Players Rental to check
Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S Xbox service, ordered through the app linked from Nitrado’s Xbox offer.
PS4, or the PS4 game running on PS5 PlayStation service. Select Playstation 4 on the rental page.
DayZ from Steam on Windows PC service, using the PC rental procedure.
Microsoft Store or PC Game Pass version on Windows Xbox build. Confirm the Xbox service and Keyboard & Mouse admission setting for this client.

Bohemia’s platform FAQ confirms that the Microsoft Store PC version runs the Xbox build and can join Keyboard & Mouse servers with Xbox players. This does not connect Steam servers to the Xbox pool. The same FAQ says modding is unsupported for console-related builds, including PC Game Pass.

  1. Open Nitrado’s Xbox DayZ offer.
  2. Follow Visit the Microsoft store for the Nitrado Xbox App. Use the provider’s linked app and the account that will own the rental.
  3. Select DayZ for Xbox, your location, player slots and rental term. Confirm the platform in the order summary.
  4. Read the amount due, renewal or prepaid expiry, taxes and cancellation conditions before paying. Save the confirmation and service identifier.
  5. Wait until the instance is ready in the management panel. A completed payment is not a successful server-start test.

The website’s PC price cards are not an Xbox quote. Read the price for your selected service in the Xbox app.

  1. Open Nitrado’s PlayStation DayZ offer.
  2. Confirm Playstation 4, then choose a location near your group, a slot cap and a term.
  3. Review the final order summary and renewal terms. Confirm that you are renting the console service before placing the order.
  4. Save the order confirmation and open the supplied management panel when the service is ready.

Choose enough slots for the first test. A higher slot cap does not establish how a heavily edited mission will perform.

There is no universal Xbox or PS4 server price. Platform, slots, term, currency and selected options affect the quote.

As a dated example, Nitrado’s UK PlayStation selector, checked on 3 October 2026, displayed these subscription offers with London selected:

Slots Displayed price Term
10 £11.59 30 days
16 £15.13 30 days
24 £21.41 30 days

The page stated that its gross prices include VAT. These are PlayStation examples, not Xbox prices or a personalized quote. Confirm the amount and terms in your own order; prices can change. Xbox owners should use the app quote described above.

Keep the DayZ game purchase, any required platform multiplayer subscription and map DLC separate from the server-rental bill. The hosting-cost guide explains how to compare upfront payments and recurring costs.

Start with the supplied vanilla mission. Keep an export of the initial settings before changing them.

  1. Open the correct service and record its platform, map and service identifier.
  2. Stop the server through the panel and wait for the stopped state before editing.
  3. Open Settings > General. Set a recognizable server name and a join password for your test group.
  4. Keep the initial time and economy settings. Select Keyboard & Mouse support if your intended Xbox/Microsoft Store clients require it.
  5. Save changes, start the service and wait for the panel to report it running.

Nitrado documents the name, password and stop/save/start workflow in its console settings guide. Use the controls exposed by your console service; PC startup commands and Workshop installation instructions are a different procedure.

Open DayZ on the intended platform and select the Community server list. Search for the name you saved. Clear filters that hide your chosen map, perspective, password status or input type.

Join using the password and confirm the intended world loads. Ask another invited player to repeat that test. To check privacy, try a join without the correct password and confirm it is rejected, then restore normal access for the test group. Keep the password out of public server advertisements.

If the server is absent, compare the platform and input settings first, then check the panel’s running state and current server name. Refresh the browser. If it remains absent, give Nitrado the service identifier and time of the failed search; do not order another instance to repair discovery.

Use the provider’s backup or export controls and check what they include. Keep copies of changed mission XML, custom files and settings outside the service. A file export and a persistence backup cover different state.

The panel distinguishes Reset Mission XML to Default from Storage wipe. A mission reset replaces edits; a storage wipe affects saved world state. Neither is a routine first-launch step. Before resetting mission files for a game update, preserve the old baseline and your edits, then merge the intended changes into the new stock files.

On a failed edit, stop the service and restore the affected settings or files from the preserved copy. Use a persistence restore only when that state needs recovery. Check a player join and known saved objects after recovery.

Before the rental ends, export the data you need and verify cancellation or expiry in the provider’s account. Keep the service confirmation until billing and recovery are resolved.
