VYKIX vs OVH

OVHcloud includes Game DDoS Protection (L7) in its advertised DayZ offering. Ask which game and Steam query profiles your order includes and who configures them.

Its protected-game list names Arma II and III but does not list DayZ Standalone. The DayZ Standalone roadmap request was open with an Acknowledged project status at the source review noted in the FAQ below. The DayZ product page alone won’t tell you which DayZ protocol checks your server gets.

OVHcloud’s Game firewall guide requires rules for each protected IP and application port. Profiles vary by Game server generation. A rule using Other allows traffic through with little added security; don’t assume it checks DayZ packets. Get the proposed profile and port configuration confirmed before ordering.

Request examples of how those profiles handled an incident on the same service. The product page names the feature but does not describe its validation code, cache path or packet decisions.

VYKIX vs Hetzner

Hetzner runs DDoS detection and filtering alongside customer firewall controls. Its dedicated-server Robot firewall is stateless and matches packet headers. Hetzner documents a stateful firewall for Cloud servers. These firewall descriptions do not describe the full DDoS system.

The linked public references do not specify which DayZ protocol and query checks apply. Ask Hetzner to confirm those checks and the required configuration for your service.

The DayZ-Specific Difference

VxShield combines Global Secure Layer (GSL) upstream mitigation with our own filtering on VYKIX’s network. Our managed-DayZ profile checks DayZ traffic and caches supported A2S_INFO requests at the Anycast edge. On a cache hit, the edge replies without passing that query to the DayZ process.

Check how a provider handles cache misses, refreshes and other query types as well. A cached reply measures the browser-query path. To assess gameplay latency and server health, test player connections and sessions.

The configuration guide separates game, query and optional RCON rules for VYKIX VPS and dedicated servers with customer-managed protection. Managed-DayZ customers use their assigned endpoints and contact support for protection changes.

Does OVH protect DayZ servers from DDoS?

OVHcloud advertises Game DDoS Protection with its DayZ offering. The protected-game table, as of 3 October 2026, does not list DayZ Standalone, and its DayZ profile roadmap request remains open. Confirm the exact game and query profiles for your chosen server before ordering.
