Free Hytale Server Hosting: Costs, Limits and Trial Terms

A free Hytale server still needs a place to keep the world, enough resources to run it and someone to fix a failed start. Check those details before persuading the group to build there.

VYKIX’s advertised free 48-hour trials cover DayZ and Rust, not Hytale. Our Hytale offer is paid hosting. Other providers set their own free-tier terms; check their current limits and retention policies.

The DayZ/Rust trial does not add a free Hytale option. Trial hardware can differ from paid hardware, so results from another game are no substitute for testing this one.

Questions for a free-tier provider

Read the terms with your intended world in mind:

• What are the memory, storage and player limits? What happens at the limit?
• Does an empty server sleep? Are there startup queues or renewal tasks?
• Can you upload the mods and configuration files you need?
• Can you download the world, configuration and mod data before leaving?
• Which protection is included, and who investigates failed connections?
• Who applies game updates, creates backups and handles a restore?

A missing policy means you need an answer from the provider. It does not prove the feature is absent, and these questions do not imply that all free tiers have the same restrictions.

Try a busy session, then return after the server has been empty. Record the time and what happened. A successful first login covers one test; it cannot establish availability over a whole month.

Self-hosting a Hytale server

Use the Hytale Server Manual for the runtime and installation procedure. Its minimum requirements let you start assessing a machine; player capacity still depends on the world and workload.

Hytale uses QUIC/UDP. Behind a router, confirm public reachability before configuring a port forward. Carrier-grade NAT can prevent inbound access. Ask your ISP what the connection supports and which protection is available.

Expose the assigned game port, with matching router and firewall rules. Keep management services private or access-restricted. You also own the OS updates, backups and the decision to leave the machine running while the group plays.

Authentication is part of the setup

Our VYKIX setup walkthrough records a downloader login and a later server login. That sequence belongs to the documented installer. The publisher also supports a bootstrap route, and provider installations can have authentication in place before you open the console.

Check /auth status on the running server. If login is required, use /auth login device with the Hytale account that owns your licence. Follow the active request’s expiry and keep its codes and tokens out of public screenshots.

Credential persistence can carry the login across process restarts. It cannot prevent revoked credentials or an authentication-service failure; read the error before repeating the setup. Publisher authentication guide

What the paid VYKIX plan includes

The listed paid package includes game-file and configuration access, a console, three same-server backup slots and VxShield DDoS protection. It names an overclocked i9-14900K host build. Memory and storage are subject to fair use; the world, mods, settings and active players determine the workload.

Our setup guide shows the panel file manager and its mods and universe folders. You can use that access to upload compatible packages. It does not make arbitrary mods compatible or promise a one-click installer for each one.

Keep a world copy outside the server and rehearse recovery before an update. The three local backup slots do not replace that external copy.

Review the Hytale order for the billing term, taxes and fees. If you are moving from another host, ask us to confirm eligibility and the files and integrations in scope. The switcher offer is best effort and may add seven days to an eligible paid plan under its terms; it does not promise to transfer every database.

Choose with an exit plan
